So many sites have now disappeared entirely or they are buried
under housing estates or shopping centers. Many have been ploughed out over the years or demolished and their materials been used for other building purposes.

The aim of Fortified England® is to bring together, in one area, all the data and information known on these important places in English history. Ranging from the prehistoric times to modern day.

Fortified England® is constantly being added to. With the counties queuing up to have their information uploaded onto the data-base we can guarantee that every time you visit us there will have been more sites added and information on existing sites updated.

History continues each day with new sites being unearthed or discovered through ariel photography, geophysical surveys and archaeological excavations. As well as sites changing ownership, families selling well-known landmarks, English Heritage and the National Trust acquiring properties, to name but a few.

It is important that all this information be recorded and kept for future generations to see how this tiny country has managed to remain under its own monarchy for over two thousand years.
