This web site is dedicated to the fortified sites around England. These include Prehistoric, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Saxon, Norman, and Civil War defenses to name but a few. 

 You can begin your journey by searching for sites by name, or category. Some sites have just one name, whilst others have been known by many names that have changed through the years. These are all listed to help you with your search. 

Fortified England® is developing daily. With most research being undertaken by hand, hard copies are being uploaded constantly, as well as new entries being added to current sites as information comes to hand.
